Ifugao Basket Fish Trap "Gubu" #2

Philippines Ifugao Igorot basket fish trap "Gubu". The gubu is submerged in the water wherein fish passes, and the opening, which faces up is smeared with a bit of fermented rice mash (left over from the making of rice beer) to attract fish. It may also be sheltered from the sun with a bunch of leaves or grass, which help to form a shaded nook that is also attractive to fish. Once a fish has passed through the funnel-shaped mouth of the trap, it is unable to get out again.
