This piece is a newly made ( wooden shield) "kalasag" on march of 2003 by a Kalinga student of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College ( Bontoc) used for depiction of their culture and show, the Patina is just a charcoal wiped to the kalasag to look like it was old. Though this is a newly made piece its still good for collection. This is a good example of a Kalinga kalasag with flat lower and upper projection, made of a single piece of wood and a lizard carved to the front and deep handle and bow like front. This piece is created carefully ( see pics ), the only not good about it maybe is the rattan added to it.
